gave this Meta Resume a try. This is a mix of my personal life and my
pseudonym as I am not sure what my final project is going to be on
ultimately in this masters program. 3 years from now this whole page
could be a lot different. Feedback is always welcome!

I absolutely love your meta resume! The formatting is spot on for a Google search. Your sentences describing each link are well written and I like that all of the links actually work. My only critique is I would have liked to see some of the past work experience incorporated somehow.
ReplyDeleteWell done! I agree with quinncapsfan, it is well written and it is really cool that the links actually work. My favorite one is your wikipedia resume. In two sentences the reader knows what your blog is about and who you are.
ReplyDeleteIt is who you know. This is true in media or any business Paul. As a technical director, your resume should list your directing experience and if you are seeing employment, you hopefully already have your foot in the door.
ReplyDeleteThis class looks at web persona and content creation online. Online, it is also who you know, but the relationship between content creators and their audiences is different. People who rely on the real world of personal relationships can miss the potential of online relationships. As we see more and more, they are foolish to do so.
An online connection can be an extension and enhancement of the personal relationship, but content creation can also foster online relationships that become personal relationships. A content creator may never meet most of his or her fan base, but the relationship is still very personal.
Your LinkedIn resume is good. It works at a glance. That keyword director appears over and over. You use technical jargon/keywords to further specify your skill set. You are focused in your career and your resume does its job.
The ICM program, the online arena, and your capstone give you an opportunity to do something more. Online content creation is your opportunity to write and direct. Everything from an online resume to what appears when you search for yourself is a chance to begin a dialogue with others.
I agree with your fellow students, your “meta resume” is tightly written, but standard fare. You give your pseudonym a resume and a Twitter feed. This is fine, but you could develop so much more. You could plan out the keywords and engaging creative written content that accompany your name. You could think of ways to use multimedia or social media.
I use the pseudonym in class as a warning that you have a reputation to consider and that you publish every time you create online. But it is also a reminder that you can focus parts of yourself into additional voices.
A football blog can be more than a pastime. You could write it so well that it becomes an advertisement for your sports knowledge and your written communication skills.
There are people all over the web using the web to launch their specific creative projects into the minds of everyone else. Even if you do this for a client instead of yourself, the ability to speak well with the variety of media and software applications on the web is an important skill set.
Your meta resume also helps you think about how you might produce your content. Every day is a chance to do your best work, but also to record and promote it. Don’t think of that as egotistical. Think of it as further communication, further sharing of your knowledge and experience with the world.
In addition to directing a show, you can direct how people connect with you.
Getting better job opportunities is an added bonus.
